The Red Scarf
In a world of distorted harmony, truth becomes slippery—and a siren's song of praise is exploited as a weapon.
ADULT SPECULATIVE FANTASY
Book One of the Borealia Trilogy

In the northern nation of Borealia, harmony is a cherished ideal. But beneath the appearance of a flourishing democracy, something is quietly changing.
A young merman leaves the sea on a university scholarship, travelling inland in an aquatic wheelchair designed to make the world beyond the water accessible to him. Determined to study biorestoration in hopes of restoring his dying reef, he discovers an unlikely friendship with his roommate, a moose determined to leave his family's faith behind. Yet in this unfamiliar world, the merman finds hope in the very faith his friend has rejected.
A devoted physician—a matronly bear—begins to question whether the medical treatment she helped develop is healing her patients—or robbing them of something essential.
A human journalist struggles to distinguish truth from the narratives she has been groomed to tell, while another—an otter—risks everything to expose what has been concealed.
And as a crimson scarf belonging to a mink becomes an unexpected emblem of resistance, ordinary citizens find themselves confronting a question they never imagined they would have to answer:
How much of their freedom, their conscience, and even their humanity are they willing to surrender in the name of harmony?
As the boundaries between compassion and coercion blur, friendships fracture, convictions are tested, and the cost of dissent grows ever higher.
Yet beneath the growing darkness, another story is unfolding—of faith remembered, forgiveness offered, and a truth no institution can manufacture or erase.
The Red Scarf is a richly imagined speculative fantasy about the quiet corruption of good intentions, the courage to stand for truth, and the unseen realities that shape the choices of a nation.
