The Storyteller
Carly Ruiz is a Canadian novelist whose imagination wanders between the ancient and the imagined, the familiar and the extraordinary.
A lifelong lover of stories and animals, she pursued a career in veterinary medicine and devoted herself to raising a family before the words that had been quietly gathering found their way onto the page. Writing became a place of discovery, healing, and creative freedom.
Her work is shaped by a fascination with the human heart—and He who created it.
Influenced by the imaginative and theological writings of C. S. Lewis, Carly is drawn to stories that illuminate familiar questions from unfamiliar perspectives. Whether exploring the courts of ancient Israel or the imagined shores of another world, she finds in fiction a way of looking beyond appearances and preconceptions toward the things that endure.
Carly has completed two unpublished novels: Bathsheba, a biblical historical novel, and The Red Scarf, the first book in the speculative fantasy trilogy Borealia. Her creative work also includes a completed Christmas musical and a screenplay adaptation of part of Bathsheba.
She lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, with her husband and four children.
